I am a guy and I like having both male and female friends. A female friend is just a friend, and it’s not a romantic love affair nor dating. A female friend is not the same as girlfriend.

That’s right! I have bus-loads of friends that are girls and not a one of them would I ever sleep with, or get into a relationship with. The people who think differently, as you say, are just/only old school probably, because back in the day, that was not something that was considered. These are the 2000′s and it is not like that anymore.
In fact, it can be a problem when going out with one of your girly friends, cos the other girls think you are with *her*. It can be a problem most of the time, but if the girl is *good*, she can get you one of the girls you like. So, it *can* have it’s advantages, too.
